The Tango Cowboys return to Ott & Murphy, straddling their saddles underneath the winter skies of Langley.  They’ll be rounding up some new cowboy songs and tangos from Buenos Aires and ride the grooves until closin’ time.

He took up the violin at age 8, switched to the double bass at 11, and began studying the piano at 13. At 15 he played bass for a college vocal jazz group, which included his brother Mike (singing bass), and toured California. In college, Rich (piano, bass) studied with jazz guitarist Al Galante, and led a jazz quintet (pictured below on the far right). In the late 1980s, while in Clemson S.C., he played bass with “Jazz Essence,” a trio that included Dick Underwood on piano, and played bebop in the tradition of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Brown, and Bud Powell.

From the train tunnels of Chicago to the orchestra hall of Seattle,  Eric Fridrich has shared his music with audiences of all kinds.

The music is a study in many world traditions subtlety woven into a singer songwriter sensibility that “defies classification” (Tom Barille Former editor Chicago arts and entertainment magazine) with an instrumental mastery that has awarded performances with rock and roll hall of famers, Grammy winners, and prominent African soukous, opera, flamenco and jazz artists.

Eric is currently playing solo performances nationally, lead guitar for Super Mokako (African Soukous) and Seattle Soul and releasing multiple recordings from the past few years.

Award-winning, Segovia-trained guitarist and composer Andre Feriante has been sharing the gift of music with audiences around the word for 30 years. Beginning with his first concert in Rome in 1979, he has introduced a sensual and contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. Andre’s journey began in Italy, where he was born. At age 13, he heard the flamenco guitar and his life changed for ever.

By the age of 21, Feriante had studied with the great Maestro Andres Segovia in Spain, played concerts in Europe and North and South America, and was part of the music faculty at two colleges. Feriante’s long career has taken him to hundreds of stages, including Seattle’s Benaroya Hall and The Triple Door.

Andre’s world view is one of hope, love, and empathy. He hopes the passionate and reflective qualities in his songs will bring listeners inward to discover the similarities among humans, creating more peace and joy in our world.
